About the Springfield Illinois Stake
The Springfield Illinois Stake is an ecclesiastical unit of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that includes nine local congregations: three in Springfield (including a Young Single Adult branch), three in Decatur (including a Spanish-speaking branch), and one each in Jacksonville, Litchfield, and Pittsfield.
The stake is presided over by an ordained high priest called by a general authority of the Church from among stake members to serve as stake president. (Click here for more information about stake leaders.)
Full-size congregations in Springfield, Decatur, and Jacksonville are called wards, each presided over by an ordained high priest called from among ward members to serve as bishop.
Smaller congregations are called branches and exist in Litchfield and Pittsfield, plus two stake-wide branches: a Young Single Adult branch meeting in Springfield and a Spanish-speaking branch meeting in Decatur.
