About the Springfield Illinois Stake

The Springfield Illinois Stake is an ecclesiastical unit of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that includes seven local congregations: two in Springfield, two in Decatur, and one each in Jacksonville, Litchfield, and Pittsfield.

The stake is presided over by an ordained high priest called by a general authority of the Church from among stake members to serve as stake president. (Click here for more information about stake leaders.)

Full-size congregations in Springfield, Decatur, and Jacksonville are called wards, each presided over by an ordained high priest called from among ward members to serve as bishop.

Smaller congregations in Litchfield and Pittsfield are called branches, each presided over by a high priest called to serve as branch president.
