One by One:
Ministering in a Higher and Holier Way
The Savior has invited each of us to love and care for one another as He does. In His conversation with Peter, the Savior gave a simple but powerful invitation: "Feed my sheep." (John 21:17)
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we fulfill this invitation through ministering. Ministering is more than an assignment or responsibility. It is an opportunity to follow the Savior by loving, serving, strengthening, and caring for one another, one by one.
As a stake presidency, we are inviting every member of the Springfield Illinois Stake to participate in a special initiative called One by One: Ministering in a Higher and Holier Way.
Our Objective - Love as the Savior loves and minister to all.
Our goal is to make at least one meaningful ministering visit and connection with every member of our stake between now and our next stake conference in October 2027.
Our Initial Invitation
To begin, we invite every ministering brother and sister to personally visit each individual and family to whom they are currently assigned before December 31, 2026.
We can think of no greater gift to the Savior this Christmas season than to reach out in love to those around us.
As you prepare for these visits, we encourage you to:
Pray for inspiration. Ask Heavenly Father to help you know how to bless those to whom you minister.
Make a personal visit. Reach out with genuine love and concern. Whenever possible, visit individuals and families in their homes.
Share a message of JOY. Following the three steps on the minister card provided by the stake (printed or digital), help others recognize that lasting joy comes through Jesus Christ and His gospel.
Ensure information is correct. It is difficult to bless others if we lack basic ways to communicate. Help make sure we have the best contact mailing address, email address and phone number for each member of the stake.
Continue to minister. Look for opportunities to strengthen these relationships through meaningful, ongoing connections.
An Invitation to Everyone
This initiative is not just for assigned ministering brothers and sisters. We invite every member of our stake, including our youth and Primary children, to look for opportunities to love, serve, and lift others.
We also encourage you to ask your Elders Quorum or Relief Society presidency if there are additional individuals or families you might help visit.
Our Hope
Our hope is that through this initiative, every member of our stake will feel remembered, valued, and loved—and that each of us will experience greater JOY as we follow Jesus Christ.
