Young Single Adult Branch Created

Springfield, IL – December 8, 2024 – The Springfield Illinois Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is excited to announce the opening of a new Young Single Adults (YSA) branch, a unique congregation designed specifically for single adults aged 18 to 35.

The first meeting took place on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the church’s meetinghouse in Springfield, and will serve as a special gathering place for young adults from across Central Illinois to unite in faith and learn about the work of the Savior Jesus Christ in the world today.

This YSA branch stands apart as a congregation tailored to the spiritual and social needs of young single adults, providing a welcoming environment to connect with others in a similar stage of life. Through Christ-centered worship services, uplifting weekly activities, and service opportunities, the branch will help participants grow in their faith, find support in their challenges, and forge meaningful relationships.

“The creation of this branch reflects the Church’s commitment to supporting young adults during this critical phase of life,” said Robert Martinez, president of the Springfield Illinois Stake. “It is a unique space where young single adults can come together, share their experiences, and strengthen their understanding of the Savior and His teachings.”

The YSA branch is open to young adults from all over Central Illinois, providing a central hub for fellowship and spiritual growth. Meetings will be held at 3601 Buckeye Drive, Springfield, Illinois, with worship services beginning at 2:00 pm every Sunday.

“This branch is more than just a meeting place—it’s a community of individuals striving to support one another and grow closer to Christ,” said Richard Zollinger, of Lincoln, IL, the branch’s newly called Branch President.

Young single adults called to serve in leadership positions in the branch include:

·      Juta WoWoe (27) (Springfield; Liberia): Branch Presidency 1st Counselor

·      Addie Newell (27) (Decatur): Relief Society President
